Ajax Partnership Fund grant for diabetes centre expansion

Ajax Partnership Fund has invested $25,000 in the Charles H Best Diabetes Centre for landmark facility expansion.

The grant brings the centre closer to expanding its facility for the next generation of patients with type 1 diabetes. The Ajax Partnership Fund’s investment goes directly towards the centre’s capital campaign – Building on the Best – which is raising $5 million for the expansion. The expansion will include renovations of the two existing structures and an additional conjoining space, said a town statement.

When completed, the new centre will have fully accessible access on the first floor, 18 patient counselling spaces, a new event and education space, six meeting rooms and an additional clinic room with a children’s play area. The improvements from the expansion will help the centre continue to deliver one-of-a-kind patient healthcare with additional resources and space for dedicated staff, it added.
