Ajax Shooting of Seven: 28-year old man charged

Durham Police investigators have arrested and charged a 28-year-male with numerous firearm related offences.

On August 1, 2022, at about 1:20 am, members from West Division were dispatched to a shooting call at the rear of the Dams Foods on Harwood Avenue South. Police located five people suffering from gunshot wounds. A sixth person showed up at a Toronto hospital, also suffering from a gunshot wound and a seventh victim came forward in the following days.

It is believed that the suspect was in attendance at the customer appreciation party and was involved in a verbal altercation with some patrons. The suspect left the restaurant and hours later returned and opened fire at the party. Six adults, three females and three males were shot. Four suffered non-life threatening injuries and two victims suffered life-threatening injuries. All victims are listed in stable condition.

The suspect from Scarborough was held for a bail hearing, said a police statement.
