Ajax threatens to block bully users from town social media

The Town of Ajax yesterday criticized “inflammatory comments” posted by users under the town’s official social media accounts.

“Recently, there has been inappropriate commentary directed at town staff and council members on our social media channels,” said a town statement.

It pointed out that the town stands firmly against bullying, ableism, and hate in any form.

“Inflammatory messages will not be tolerated – any comments deemed inappropriate will be removed, and the town retains the right to block the user(s) responsible,” the statement said.

It said the purpose of the town’s social media channels is to foster constructive discussion and community dialogue.

“Let’s unite in fostering respect, inclusion, and kindness so that everyone feels safe and valued in our community.”
