Another Quebec car thief nabbed – after foot pursuit

Durham Regional Police Service (DRPS) yesterday said offcers from its West Division were quick to respond to a vehicle theft in progress.

After a short foot pursuit, the suspect was taken into custody.

On Wednesday May 17 at about 6:30 am, officers were called to the area of Baylawn Drive and Fairport Road in Pickering.

A homeowner had called in to report that someone was trying to steal their vehicles. Officers, on arrival, saw a man trying to steal a vehicle in the driveway.

After a short foot pursuit, the suspect was taken into custody, police said.

A 19-year old from Quebec has been charged, police said.

There have been several attempts at vehicle thefts in Durham by persons from Quebec.
