An armed home invasion in Ajax caused police to open a drug trafficking investigation. This led them to two male suspects being arrested.
On Tuesday, February 3, at around 3:30 am, members of West Division responded to an armed person call at a residence in the area of Kingston Road West and Westney Road North. Residents of the home contacted police after two suspects broke into their residence armed with handguns. The suspects fled in a vehicle prior to police arrival.
Investigators identified two suspects and on Thursday, June 18, the West Division Crime Team, with the assistance of the DRPS Tactical Response Unit, Community Response Unit, East Division Crime Team and Intelligence Unit, executed search warrants at five locations in Durham and Toronto.
During the search warrants, officers seized a firearm with two over capacity magazines, several rounds of ammunition, a quantity of drugs, including cocaine, fentanyl and methamphetamine, and various Schedule I pills. They also seized a large quantity of Canadian currency.
The suspects, a 29-year old man from Mississauga who had a weapons prohibition at the time of his arrest and a 30-year old man from Oshawa were both charged and held for a bail hearing. Name and further details available at www.drps.ca.
Anyone with information about this incident is asked to contact D/Cst. Riddell of the West Division Crime Team at 1-888-579-1520 ext. 2534.
