56-year old stabbed to death, 23-year old suspect held

Durham Regional Police Service (DRPS) yesterday said a 56-year-old male is dead after being stabbed multiple times during an incident that occurred inside a Pickering residence.

On Friday, November 4 at about 7 pm, members from West Division were called to a home on Rosebank Road. A victim was located inside the home suffering from stab wounds. He was transported to a Toronto-area trauma centre where he was later pronounced deceased. A post-mortem examination is set for today, said a police statement.

Durham Police were able to locate the accused in Toronto shortly after the incident. The Toronto Police Service (TPS) assisted the DRPS in the accused’s arrest. Police are not looking for any additional suspect at this time.

The 23-year old suspect of Pickering i\was charged with Second Degree Murder, and held for bail hearing.

Area of Rosebank Road and Sheppard Avenue in Pickering was closed off for the duration of investigation, said an earlier police tweet.
