Brock to create new recreation masterplan by year end

The Township of Brock has announced a timeline to create a new Parks, Recreation, and Culture Masterplan.

It hopes to have it by the year end.

Phase 1 began from April to May and covered background analysis and review. The township is currently (May and June) in the community and stakeholder engagement stage, which will be followed by needs assessments and draft recommendations over July to September. The township hopes to have the masterplan in the final quarter of this year.

As part of its current community and stakeholder engagement stage, Brock has created an online Recreation Master Plan Community Consultation Hub.

“The Township of Brock understands the importance of parks, trails, open spaces, recreation programs and facilities for its community members. The updated Parks, Recreation, and Culture Master Plan will guide the provision of recreation services over the next 10 years,” said the township.

It said this is a valuable community project in planning and providing for the future of recreation in Brock and pointed out public input is a critical part of this process as “we want to develop a plan that will best serve the community, so we want to hear from you”.

Key public inputs needed are:

  • What parks, trails, open spaces, and facilities do you or your household like to use?
  • What recreation programs, activities, and events do you and your household like to attend?
  • What are your wishes for future recreation in Brock?

The township scheduled a community open house on Tuesday, June 13 at Brock High School. It has also set up a survey, which will be open to the public until Friday, July 7, 2023.
