CAM uses $50,000 grant to expand online reach

Representatives from the Canadian Automotive Museum (CAM) and the Ontario Trillium Foundation (OTF), recently met with On Friday, MPP for Oshawa, Jennifer French, to discuss the successful programming made possible thanks to a six-month, $50,000 Communities Building Fund grant awarded last fall by the Government of Ontario and delivered by OTF.

“Thanks to the grant, the CAM adapted its programs for online audiences, reaching hundreds of visitors across Ontario and beyond. Of particular note was their popular Third Thursday talk series that connected visitors to diverse automotive historians and experts from across Canada,” said a CAM statement.

“The Canadian Automotive Museum (CAM) plays an important role of preserving our community’s rich automotive history,” said the MPP for Oshawa. “The work the CAM has been able to accomplish with the Resilient Communities Fund is impressive and will allow even more folks to share in our history.  As we begin the process of recovering from the pandemic it is vital that investments are also made into Art, Culture, and History.  I am glad to see the CAM’s contributions recognized and supported by Trillium.”

The Community Building Fund program was developed to help non-profits rebuild and recover from the impacts of Covid-19. Funds from the grant were used to help with operate the facility, upgrade digital capabilities, and offset some staffing and administrative costs too.

“It has been great reaching a wide audience across Canada through virtual programs,” said Alexander Gates, Executive Director and Curator.
