Carjackers assault driver but fail to steal electric BMW

Durham Police investigators are looking for four suspects following an attempted carjacking early morning Friday.

On February 9 at bout 2:20 am, members of West Division responded to the Petro Canada on Dundas Street West at Lake Ridge Road in Ajax for an attempted carjacking.

The victim was walking to his vehicle when he was approached by one of the suspects who asked the victim for his keys. The male victim was pushed down to the ground. The suspects fled and were not able to steal the white BMW electric vehicle, said a police statement. It did not say why the suspects fled.

The suspects made their way to a waiting vehicle that was occupied by two other suspects and drove off from the area.

There were no physical injuries reported, police said.

The four suspects are described as:

  • Suspect #1: male, Black, 20-30 years old, wearing a black mask and black baseball hat.
  • Suspect #2: male, White, 20-30 years old, wearing dark clothing.
  • Suspects #3/4: males, 20-30 years old, with black clothing.

Investigators are encouraging anyone with information or video footage, including dashcam, to contact police.
