Central Oshawa GO Station moving forward to Stage 3

The GO train extension to Bowmanville took another step forward with the announcement yesterday that planning for land uses and transportation around the future Central Oshawa GO Station is moving forward to Stage 3.

The proposed Central Oshawa GO Station site is located at 500 Howard Street.

The City of Oshawa is inviting community members to provide their feedback on a preferred land use alternative, a transportation evaluation of alternative solutions, and an updated land use plan and draft urban design guidelines for the Study Area surrounding the planned Central Oshawa GO Station.

Additionally, feedback is being sought on a preliminary design for the First Avenue and McNaughton Avenue corridor between Simcoe Street South and Ritson Road South, being completed as a Schedule C Municipal Class Environmental Assessment as part of the Area-specific Transportation Master Plan, the city said.

It said a Master Land Use Plan and Area-specific Transportation Master Plan for the Central Oshawa Major Transit Station Area (MTSA) is underway. It is centered on the proposed Central Oshawa GO Station site located at 500 Howard Street, situated on the south side of the Canadian Pacific Rail corridor approximately midway between Simcoe Street South and Ritson Road South.

The project background and feedback form is available on Connect Oshawa (ConnectOshawa.ca/MTSAStudy) or on paper at Service Oshawa, located at City Hall (50 Centre Street South).

Stage 3 Public Information Centre will be held on Tuesday, April 23 from 6 pm to 8:30 pm at Oshawa City Hall, C Wing Committee Room.

Feedback will be received until noon on Friday, May 17, 2024 and will be considered in a future staff report to be presented to the Economic and Development Services Committee, the city said.
