Changes at Brock, Toronto crossings from Thursday

The Township of Uxbridge has announced changes to pedestrian crossing at Brock Street and Toronto Street.

It is due to be implemented from Thursday February 16.

A representative from the Region of Durham Traffic Engineering and Operations provided information on a proposed traffic signal modification at Toronto Street at Brock Street, said a township statement.

A change to the timing of the signal will be implemented to enhance the safety of pedestrians. The change will increase the time between signal changes at the intersection, it added.

It said modification of traffic signal sequence will separate east-west vehicle and pedestrian movements.

The township said it is making this change to improve level of safety by removing the conflict between pedestrians on the south side and westbound left turning vehicles.
