Changes to blue box collection in Oshawa and Whitby

The Regional Municipality of Durham has announced changes to scheduled curbside blue box collection due to Thanksgiving Day holiday, for residents of Oshawa and Whitby.

When: October 10 to 15. Residents with collection scheduled for Monday, October 10, will temporarily have their collection moved to Tuesday, October 11. This shift will continue throughout the week, ending with Friday, October 14 collection being moved to Saturday, October 15.

Where: Oshawa and Whitby.

Why: These changes are taking place in observance of the Thanksgiving Day holiday.

The municipality reminded residents to have blue box materials at the curb by 7 am on the day of collection. Garbage and green bin collection for Oshawa and Whitby residents is the responsibility of the individual municipalities, not the Region of Durham. Residents are asked to check their waste calendars or contact their local area municipality regarding the collection of these items.
