Clarington to cut speed limit to 30-kmh in school zones

The Municipality of Clarington has announced that council has decided to implement additional speed limit reductions in school zones.

“Clarington is building on its decision to reduce speed limits in school zones across the municipality to 30 kilometres an hour,” said a notice.

“Clarington will install new speed limit signs in the coming months and conduct a public education campaign to ensure drivers and parents are informed of the change ahead of the start of the 2024-25 school year,” it added.

Recently, Clarington added new stop signs at seven intersections in Bowmanville and Courtice (see below).

Clarington has been growing significantly in the recent past, especially in transit-oriented communities around proposed GO train stations in Courtice and Bowmanville.
