Clarington’s Diane Hamre pool to reopen after two months

After eight weeks of work, the pool at Diane Hamre Recreation Complex (DHRC) in Newcastle will reopen on Monday, February 3, according to the Municipality of Clarington..

While some of the work may not be visible, changes have been made to the pool deck. A new dehumidification unit has been installed, which officials state will improve cooling, humidity, and fresh air circulation. In addition, officials report that updates include a coat of paint, updated blinds on select windows, and repaired tiles with new grouting.

Municipal staff describe the pool as having multiple features. The tot pool includes a walk-in ramp and a water play area with buckets and sprinklers. The 25-metre, six-lane lap pool has both shallow and deep ends. The amusement slide is available for use. A co-ed whirlpool and sauna will be open during scheduled swim times.

Residents are encouraged to check the drop-in swimming calendar for upcoming swim times at Diane Hamre Recreation Complex.

Spring program registration will open on Wednesday, March 5, at 7 am A preview of upcoming swimming lessons and recreation programs will be available on Wednesday, February 12.
