DRPS Traffic Services reported keen-eyed officers who spotted – not a private fishing party – but a commercial fishing firm – heading out to deep water without life jackets.
“This commercial fishing outfit felt it was a good idea to head out on Lake Ontario with no life jackets, proper documentation, and a slew of other safety violations,” said a media alert.
It said the DRPS Marine Unit and Ministry of Natural Resources gave them an expensive reminder.
“Will they ever learn?” the alert asked on Friday without providing any further details.
Safe Boating Launch
Meanwhile, Durham Regional Police Service (DRPS) on Jun 10 announced the Safe Boating Launch with MADD Canada.
“As the weather warms up, we’re teaming up with MADD Durham to kick off a safe boating season!
“Today’s launch event is all about promoting safety on the water — and reminding everyone that impaired boating is impaired driving,” the DRPS said.
Durham RIDE
Durham Regional Police said members of Central East were on hand to receive a donated “RIDE” signage from our community partners MADD
Durham.
This means every division across DRPS is now equipped to display these signs at our RIDE programs throughout the year, across our region, DRPS said.
