Earlier this month, a medically fragile sphynx cat named Seraphina completed a two-day journey across provinces—from Oshawa, Ontario to Saskatoon, Saskatchewan—to receive urgent medical care not available locally.

Her transport was made possible by CWoR’s network of volunteer pilots who donated their time and aircraft to ensure she reached a rescue with specialized experience treating her condition.

With the support of her owner, located in Oshawa, Prairies Sphynx Rescue, based in Saskatoon, took in Seraphina to provide her with the specialized medical care she needs to help her live a longer life.

“Helping Seraphina get to the care she needs using my passion for aviation and animal rescue was incredibly rewarding. It’s amazing what can happen when people across the country come together for an animal in need,” said Jeff, Canadian Wings of Rescue volunteer pilot who flew Seraphina.
“She’s not out of the woods yet, but we’re already seeing a real improvement,” added Denise from Prairie Sphynx Rescue. “We couldn’t have helped her without this transport.”

Canadian Wings of Rescue works with Canadian animal rescue groups, shelters, and wildlife rehabilitation centres to help arrange free, short flights via its network of volunteer pilots. One reason why CWoR was founded 12 years ago is to help ensure that animals receive the medical care they need, no matter where in Canada they are located.
