Durham Police yesterday said a male suspect was arrested Tuesday evening upon returning to Canada.

On October 8, at about 8:20 pm, members of West Division attended Lester B. Pearson International Airport to execute an arrest warrant for a male in the custody of Canada Border Services Agency.

The suspect had left the country for a brief period of time and over a two-day period, sent more than 200 text messages to the victim. Additionally, the victim reported a series of assaults that occurred throughout their relationship.

An arrest warrant was sought by members of the DRPS Intimate Partner Violence Unit.

A 43-year-old male from Pickering was charged and held for a bail hearing.

The male’s name is being withheld to protect the identity of the victim.
