Durham Police said a 24-year-old male driver was seriously injured following a single motor-vehicle collision Wednesday afternoon in Whitby.
On September 14 at about 1:56 pm, members of Central West Division responded to Victoria Street and Hopkins Street for a single motor-vehicle collision, said a police statement.
A 2008 Volkswagen Jetta was travelling eastbound on Victoria Street East, when it lost control and entered the south ditch, where it came to rest on its roof. The 24-year-old male driver was transported to a Toronto trauma centre with life-threatening injuries. The driver remains in serious but stable condition, it said.
Members of the Collision Investigation Unit were called and the roadway was closed for several hours to collect evidence and conduct their investigation. The investigation is ongoing.
Police would like to hear from any witnesses to this collision, who have not already spoken to police.
