A 15-year old boy was charged after making threats with a knife to a taxi driver in Oshawa.
On Sunday, July 5, around 5:40 pm, a member of Central East Division was approached by the victim in the area of Bloor Street East and Ritson Road South.
The victim was approaching the final destination for the teen he was transporting in his taxi, when the teen brandished what the victim believed was a firearm in his waistband, and made threats. The suspect subsequently fled the vehicle.
A Remotely Piloted Aircraft System (RPAS) was dispatched to the area and located the suspect. The RPAS directed officers to the suspect, who fled upon seeing police. Following a brief foot pursuit, the suspect was taken into custody.
A search of the suspect revealed a large knife tucked into his waistband.
The 15 -year old teen from Oshawa was held for a bail hearing.
