Durham Farmers’ County Co-op to sell Blackstock property

Durham Farmers’ County Co-op has released a statement announcing that it had entered into an agreement to sell its property located in Blackstock, Ontario.

It said that this decision came as part of the co-op’s ongoing efforts to streamline operations and focus on its core strengths.

In recent years, the agronomy operations at Blackstock have been transitioned to the co-op’s Orono location, allowing for greater efficiencies, said the statement. The retail operations at Blackstock, operating under the name ‘Wright’s Feeds ‘N Needs’, have not contributed to the economic success of the co-op and will be amalgamated into the Co-op’s Orono store location, the statement said.

The co-op’s operations at Orono and Grafton will continue in full operation and will not be affected by this sale, read the statement. The board and management of the co-op have determined that selling the property is an opportunity to unlock the increased value in the real estate, allowing the co-op to focus and build on its strengths.

The co-op said it will continue to service the Blackstock area through local deliveries of feed, store, and agronomy products to customers.
