Durham Health reduces total toll by five deaths

At the end of December, the total case count had stood at 35,663, at 50,241 in January, and 53,117 in February, according to figures posted by Durham Health.

Durham’s overall death toll – which had stood at 448 on March 9 – has been reduced to 444 by Durham Health. Two deaths were removed from Whitby and Oshawa each, and one from Uxbridge. The reductions were not explained.

However, it has added one more LTC (long term care facilities) death in Ajax, bringing the LTC total up to 240.

Recoveries stand at 53,271. However, there are 380 active covid cases. Figures for hospitalizations and Intensive Care Unit (ICU), and people in home isolation, were not available.

Durham Health reported the highest overall number of covid cases so far in Ajax.

Covid Deaths: 444

Of the 132 reported deaths in Pickering, 91 were in LTC
Of the 80 reported deaths in Ajax, 34 were in LTC
Of the 72 reported deaths in Whitby, 33 in LTC
Of the 82 reported deaths in Oshawa, 43 were in LTC
28 deaths were reported in Clarington, four in LTC
28 deaths were reported in Uxbridge, 21 in LTC
18 deaths have been reported in Scugog, 14 in LTC
4 deaths have been reported in Brock
