Whitby knifepoint robber identified as 16-year old

Durham Police investigators have identified a 16-year-old male responsible for three knife-point robberies that occurred in Whitby in the past month.

On March 8 members of Central West Division responded to a street level robbery near the Whitby Civic Centre on Rossland Road East after a victim was robbed at knifepoint of their cellphone. The suspect met the victim at this location after making arrangements through an online selling app, said a police statement.

Investigators were able to identify a 16-year-old male of Whitby, he is charged with: Robbery x3; Utter Threats and Possess Weapons While Committing an Offence x3.
