Edgerton Bridge closed for replacement until mid-December

The Edgerton Road Bridge, located on Edgerton Road (approximately 225m west of Cartwright East Quarter Line), will be closed for replacement until December 18, according to the Township of Scugog.

The contractor is Hugo MB Contracting Inc. of Milton. The value of the contract was not mentioned.

The announcement added that the replacement schedule is subject to change due to weather and other unforeseen circumstances.

Local Access will be maintained at all times for residents and businesses from either the east or the west, however, through access will not be permitted during construction.

This temporary closure is being implemented to expedite construction, allowing the work to be completed safely and efficiently and enabling normal service levels to be restored as quickly as possible. Every effort will be made to minimize disruption where feasible and reopen the crossing at the earliest opportunity to support continued operations.

All agencies, such as, but not limited to; Emergency Services, Student Transportation Services, Waste Collection, and Postal Service have been notified of the road closure. Every effort will be made to ensure there is minimal or no disruption to the services they provide. Appropriate traffic control signage will be installed and maintained throughout the project. The emergency number east of the bridge is #4171, and the emergency number west of the bridge is #4155.

“Your patience and cooperation during the works are greatly appreciated,” the announcement said.
