Durham police yesterday said a male is facing stolen vehicle and drug charges following an investigation in Pickering.
On Wednesday, July 22 at about 4:30 pm, members of West Division responded to an assist police call regarding a stolen vehicle in Pickering. At the same time, police received information that a white Genesis SUV was driving in a dangerous manner and at high speeds.
Officers located the vehicle parked in the area of Liverpool Road and Kingston Road. The driver was observed exiting the vehicle and taken into custody without incident. A search of the suspect located a quantity of cocaine, police said.
Further investigation revealed that the vehicle had previously been towed. The vehicle was reported stolen after the owner attended the location for AutoFix, a reported auto repair facility, and discovered the business did not exist, police said.
The suspect, age 35 from Toronto, was charged and held for a bail hearing. Name and further details available at www.drps.ca.
Anyone with cell phone, dash cam, surveillance footage or information about this incident is asked to contact Cst. Williamson of West Division at 1-888-579-1520 ext. 1901.
