Durham police yesterday said a male is facing charges after driving his vehicle through a walking path and public park in Ajax.
The suspect vehicle drove through the playground, splash pad, and walking paths which were filled with pedestrians, including young children.
On Saturday, July 18 at about 6:25 pm, members of West Division responded to reports of a white Toyota sedan driving dangerously through Rotary Park located at 177 Lake Driveway West.

A short time later, the suspect vehicle returned to the park area, and drove along a pedestrian bridge on the Waterfront Trail, before fleeing the area again.
Officers located the suspect vehicle at Harwood Avenue South and Bayly Street East, and attempted to block the vehicle from fleeing. The suspect made efforts to evade police, resulting in the suspect vehicle colliding with an unrelated GMC SUV, before officers took the suspect into custody.
No injuries have been reported to police.
The suspect, age 23 from Aurora, was charged and held for a bail hearing. Name and further details available at www.drps.ca.
