Elderly pedestrian in critical condition after SUV hit

An elderly pedestrian is in critical condition after being struck by an SUV in Port Perry on Wednesday evening.

The collision occurred on October 15 at about 7:30 pm. Members of the North Division responded to the intersection of Simcoe Street and Queen Street.

A 74-year-old male pedestrian was attempting to cross the roadway when he was struck by a Dodge SUV traveling northbound on Simcoe Street. The victim sustained serious, life-threatening injuries and was transported by Air Ornge Air Ambulance to a Toronto-area trauma centre.

The driver of the Dodge SUV remained on the scene and was not injured.

The DRPS Collision Investigation Unit attended the scene and took charge of the investigation. The area roads were closed for several hours while officers collected evidence.
