Excavator used to steal at least one TD Bank ATM

Bank thieves tried using an excavator to loot a bank – and did get get away with at least one automated teller machine (ATM), according to Durham police.

Investigation is now underway after an excavator was used during a break-and-enter at a bank in Ajax.

On Monday, May 4, around 4:20 am, members of West Division responded to a commercial alarm at the TD Bank located at 83 Williamson Drive.

Officers arrived on scene and observed a parked unoccupied construction excavator near an area of the building with extensive damage. At least one ATM was stolen from the damaged area of the bank. All suspects fled the area prior to police arrival.

Anyone that was in the area between 3:30 am to 4:30 am, with cell phone, dash cam, surveillance footage or information about this incident is asked to contact Det. Obront of the West Crime Team at 1-888-579-1520 ext. 1905.
