Festive RIDE 2022 reports zero impaired last night

Durham Regional Police Service (DRPS) Traffic Services were perhaps a little tired and cold last night, but they were a pleased lot too.

We’ve conducted a RIDE line in Bowmanville, Clarington, and we would like to report zero impaired by drug or alcohol, said the police.

DRPS is in the second week of the Festive RIDE 2022 campaign.

On another happy note, officers from DRPS East Division reported they were on-hand for the Canadian Pacific Holiday Train that rolled into Bowmanville yesterday afternoon.

“It was a fantastic afternoon and a great turn out. We can’t forget to thank our amazing auxiliary officers that assisted with the days festivities,” said the police.

However, all was not goody goody as DRPS East Division officers saw some speeding action too.

They clocked a driver at 129kmh in a posted 80-zone at Bowmanville Avenue and Clarington Concession Road 10.

The driver was fined $359 and given four demerit points.

One more kilometre over = court date, 30-day suspension, and 14-day impoundment, said the police while pointing out that tow/impoundment charges are about $1,500, and re-instatement costs some $315.

“Slow it down and keep it safe for everybody this holiday season,” said the police.
