Fierce thunderstorm with hail darkens Durham skies

A fierce thunderstorm with hail hit eastern Durham last evening with Clarington perhaps being the hardest hit.

Though weather reports did not mention the velocity of the wind, it certainly made trees sway and whistled through gaps in fences.

Though no power outages in Durham were mentioned, Elexicon did report power losses in Belleville and Gravenhurst.

Heavy rain mixed with half-inch pellets of hail fell for a short while.

Environment Canada has forecast a temperature of 18°C for Thursday. It will be mainly cloudy. with 40 percent chance of showers late in the morning and in the afternoon. Wind becoming west 30 kmh gusting to 50kmh in the morning. High 18. UV index 3 or moderate.
