An action-fueled day for Volkswagen thief ended with him fleeing on foot across the busy Highway 401 and into a farmer’s field.
On Sunday, June 7, around 12:15 in the afternoon, members of East Division responded to an unknown trouble call in the area of Concession Street East and Soper Creek Drive, in Bowmanville, Clarington.
A man stole a Volkswagen sedan following an altercation.
The suspect drove the vehicle in a dangerous manner, nearly causing multiple accidents, before abandoning the vehicle and fleeing on foot in the area of Holt Road and Highway 401.
The suspect fled across live lanes of Highway 401 into a farmer’s field, before officers located and took him into custody near Rundle Road.
The 27-year old man from Barbados did not sustain any physical injuries. He was held for a bail hearing. Name and further details available at www.drps.ca.
