Durham police said a man was found dead inside a limousine following a vehicle fire in Whitby on the morning of Thursday, April 17.
Emergency crews were called to the area of Consumers Drive and Brock Street just before 9 am after reports of a car fire. Firefighters were the first on scene and discovered the body of a man inside the limo once the flames were extinguished.
Durham Regional Police, along with the Office of the Fire Marshal and the Coroner’s Office, attended the scene to begin an investigation.
According to police, a post-mortem examination did not find any signs of foul play. At this time, it’s believed the man’s injuries were caused by the fire itself.
The Office of the Fire Marshal has completed its examination of the scene, though efforts to determine the exact cause and circumstances of the fire are still ongoing.
Police have identified the deceased party as a 46-year-old man. Name and further details available at www.drps.ca.
Investigators with the Office of the Fire Marshal (OFM) have concluded their examination of the scene and efforts to determine the cause, origin, and circumstances remain ongoing.
