Durham police apprehended a man yesterday for attempting to use a fake ID to buy cellphones in Pickering.
On Tuesday, April 7, around 2:25 pm, members of West Division responded to a fraud call at Freedom Mobile located in the Shops at Pickering City Centre at 1355 Kingston Road.
A man attended the business and attempted to activate several phone lines and purchase several cell phones with a fraudulent driver’s license. Officers arrived on scene and took the suspect into custody without incident after confirming the license was fraudulent.
Additional fraudulent licenses, social insurance cards, and banking cards were located in the suspect’s possession.
The 21-year old from Brantford was released on an undertaking and is facing charges after attempting to purchase several cell phones with fraudulent identification.
