Police Chief Moreira’s tenure as Chief of Durham Regional Police Service (DRPS) has been extended until March of 2032 according to the DRPS Board.
Chief Moreira was initially appointed by the board in March 2023 for a five-year term.
“Chief Moreira has succeeded in leading the DRPS through a period of significant renewal and growth,” said Board Chair Shaun Collier. “As our Chief of Police, he has implemented extensive reforms and supported critical investments to modernize the DRPS, strengthen partnerships, improve the workplace and enhance community safety. His leadership for the next six years will help ensure the continued strength and stability of the Command team and position the DRPS for continued excellence in policing.”
