The Town of Ajax on Saturday announced that its Pat Bayly Square is open for skating.
Lace up your skates for some outdoor fun with family and friends daily from 9 am to 9 pm, weather depending, the town said.
It said entry to the location at 55 Bayly Street West is free.
The town reminded users:
- Indoor washroom access and change rooms are available.
- Participants are encouraged to park in the north parking lot at the Ajax Community Centre (75 Centennial Road).
- Helmets not required but highly recommended.
- Inclement weather may result in cancellations or delays for snow clearing.
- Skating is only permitted during scheduled hours.
- Only certified skating aids are permitted on the ice. You must bring your own. The use of strollers, chairs or other non-certified skating aids is not allowed.
Rink Rules:
- Skating on the ice is done at your own risk.
- Skate in the direction or flow of the other patrons.
- Children 10 and under must be directly supervised by a parent/guardian 16 years of age or older.
- Hockey/ringette is not permitted on the ice.
- No one is permitted on the ice without skates.
- Food & beverages are not permitted on the ice.
- Smoking/vaping is prohibited.
- No dogs or pets on the ice.
- The Town of Ajax is not responsible for lost or stolen items.
The town urged users to refrain on the icy surface from:
- Tag, horseplay, spraying or throwing of snow/ice.
- Backward, figure skating or speed skating
- Use of strollers, chairs or other non-certified skating aids.
- Carrying babies or children.
- Use of hockey sticks, pucks, nets or other sporting equipment.
- Entering the ice surface while it is being flooded.
