Help identify driver who died in car fire after hitting tree

An unknown male was fatally injured after his vehicle lost control and struck a tree on Howden Road near Harmony Road in Oshawa yesterday.

On October 24 at about 4:10 am, officers from East Division were dispatched to a report of a vehicle fire on Howden Road near Harmony Road in Oshawa. Officers attended the area and discovered a blue 2021 Honda Civic damaged against a tree and fully engulfed by fire. The vehicle’s lone occupant and driver remained inside the vehicle was pronounced dead at the scene, said a police statement.

The vehicle appeared to have been travelling eastbound on Howden Road, east of Harmony Road when it lost control and entered the north ditch striking a tree at a high rate of speed.

The investigation is currently attempting to confirm the identity of the driver.

Members of the DRPS Traffic Services Branch – Collision Investigation Unit, attended the scene to conduct an investigation. The area of the roadway was closed for several hours while evidence was collected.
