Police find dog soon after asking for public’s help

Soon after issuing a public appeal to help find a woman dognapper, Toronto Police Service (TPS) found the dog and returned it to its owner.

“Someone has just turned ‘Charlie’ in to us. Good Samaritan updated all ‘Charlie’s’ shots [and] bought ‘Charlie’ a new coat. Merry Christmas,” said a TPS tweet.

On Sunday, October 27, at approximately 4:10 pm, officers responded to a call for a medical emergency at Kipling Subway Station, said a TPS media release.

It is reported that a 45-year old woman entered the subway with her dog named ‘Charlie’. She suffered a medical episode and was rendered unconscious. When she awoke, her dog had been taken from her. The woman was treated and released, police said.

Investigators are now offering a description and security camera images of a woman believed responsible for the theft of the dog.

She is described as 5’2″-5’5″, 100 lbs., with a slim build, and long light-brown hair worn in a ponytail. She was wearing black aviator sunglasses, a purple jacket, blue jeans, with black and white running shoes. She was carrying two black backpacks and a black bag covered in white stars.

Anyone with information is asked to contact police at 416-808-1100.
