Durham Police yesterday announced they have found the driver of a Jaguar car that had critically injured a woman pedestrian in Whitby and fled the scene.
The incident happened on Saturday, September 7, at about 6:20 am in the area of Consumer Drive and Paisley Court, in Whitby. As a result of the collision the female suffered serious life-threatening injuries and was transported to a Toronto-area trauma centre.
On Monday, September 9, investigators from the Collision Investigation Unit (CIU) located the Jaguar sedan at a residence in Whitby. A warrant was issued and the vehicle was seized. As a result of the seizure officers were able to identify the driver.
On Wednesday, September 11, the suspect driver was located by CIU Investigators at a residence in Whitby, where he was taken into custody without incident.
The man, age 40 from Whitby, was charged and held for a bail hearing. Name and further details available at www.drps.ca.
