Police are searching for five suspects after gunshots were fired during a violent home invasion late Thursday night in Pickering.
According to police, the incident happened around 11:15 pm on May 22, at a residence near Foxwood Trail and Bayfield Street. Officers from West Division responded to reports of a home invasion involving multiple armed individuals.
The initial investigation revealed that five masked male suspects, three of them armed with handguns, approached the home and forced the occupants inside at gunpoint from the patio. While inside, the suspects searched the home. During the confrontation, two gunshots were fired.
One of the victims sustained minor injuries after being grazed by a bullet and was transported to a local hospital. No other injuries were reported.
The suspects — all described as Black males — fled the scene in a dark-coloured sedan, police said.
At this time, investigators believe the incident was isolated.
