Police bust nets 10 arrests, $300k in drugs, 12 guns

Durham Regional Police have arrested ten individuals, laid 112 criminal charges, and seized 12 firearms following the conclusion of a months-long investigation into drug and firearm trafficking, dubbed Project Venture. Two additional suspects remain outstanding.

According to police, the investigation began in November 2024 by the Drug Enforcement Unit (DEU) and focused on illegal drug and firearm activity across multiple jurisdictions. On Friday, May 2, officers from Durham Regional Police, with support from the Toronto Police Service, Ontario Provincial Police, York Regional Police, Peterborough Police, Peel Regional Police, Waterloo Regional Police, and the Criminal Intelligence Service Ontario (CISO), executed 16 search warrants under the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act and Criminal Code.

The coordinated raids were carried out at locations across Durham Region, Toronto, and Waterloo Region.

Police seized:

  • 12 firearms
  • Over three kilograms of cocaine
  • A large quantity of other narcotics
  • More than $100,000 in cash
  • A 2024 Volkswagen Atlas, believed to be connected to the offenses

The street value of the seized drugs is estimated at over $300,000, police said.

While most suspects have been arrested and charged, two individuals remain at large. Investigators have made contact with one of them and are appealing to the public for information that could help locate the second.
