How should Durham utilise Ritson School outdoor area?

The Region of Durham is inviting residents to take part in a virtual engagement session to learn more about the Ritson School Project and provide feedback on the public outdoor space next to the historic school building.

The Ritson School Project will see the restoration and reuse of the former elementary school at 300 Ritson Road South in Oshawa, transforming it into a community hub. Vacant parts of the property will be used to build a mix of affordable and market rental housing.

The online session will take place on Monday, August 12, from 5:30 to 7:00 pm via Zoom. A recording of the session will also be made available afterward on the project website for on-demand viewing. Residents can join the meeting at bit.ly/3TQELSI.

Durham Region purchased the property from the Durham District School Board in 2022. Community feedback gathered during this session will help shape the design of the outdoor space to ensure it is inclusive, connected, welcoming, and sustainable.
