Yet another car tackles a Durham hydro pole

Durham hydro poles seemingly bear a magnetic connection with vehicles. It is strange, but apparently, it happens fairly often — another car has struck a hydro pole on a busy street in Oshawa yesterday.

In recent months, there have been at least five reported cases of vehicles climbing on to the curb to smash into hydro poles.

In one incident, a truck sheared off the pole, half of which was left hanging in the air suspended by wires on either side.

In another case, three people were injured and one of them had to be airlifted to hospital after a car rammed into a hydro pole.

Yesterday morning, Oshawa Power said: “Heads Up! Just received an early report of a motor vehicle accident at Ritson and Olive that has struck a hydro pole.

“Please use caution if you are in the area or avoid it if you can. Emergency response is on scene. This has not caused a power outage at this time,” it added.
