Is Carr Oshawa’s worst carjacker ever?

Durham police have charged a 33-year-old male for attempting four carjackings and stabbing one of the victims in Oshawa on Saturday morning.

On May 9 at about 9:15 am, members of Central East Division responded to a parking lot at a plaza on Bloor Street East in Oshawa for four separate carjacking incidents. The suspect approached four separate victims and in the first three incidents, he identified himself as a police officer. He also brandished what appeared to be a replica firearm. He was chased by two Good Samaritans to Bloor Street and the Highway 401 exit, police said.

The fourth female victim struggled with the suspect as she would not give up her vehicle, which resulted in her receiving a minor stab wound. The suspect fled on foot empty-handed, they said adding that the female victim did not require hospitalization.

The suspect was located nearby by members of the Central East Criminal Investigation Branch with the assistance of the K-9 Unit and the male was arrested.

Jason Carr, age 33, of Drew Street in Oshawa is facing 19 charges, including: Robbery; Weapons Dangerous; Attempt Theft Motor Vehicle; Assault with a Weapon; Carry Concealed Weapon; Threaten Death and Use Imitation Firearm.

He was held for a bail hearing. Police do want to speak to the second unidentified Good Samaritan who assisted in chasing the accused from the plaza, helping the victims.
