K-9 Unit finds suspect after assault on trail

Durham Police have arrested a male suspect after an assault on a Clarington trail last Thursday night.

On August 31 at about 8:10 pm, a female was walking her dog on a marked trail near Baseline Road towards Lake Ontario.

The victim was approached by the unknown suspect, who tried to engage in conversation with her. As she walked away, the suspect grabbed her and pulled her into a wooded area. A struggle ensued and the suspect fled on foot, said a police statement.

Officers searched the area and with assistance of the K-9 Unit, the male was located nearby and arrested.

The 24-year old suspect of Clarington was charged and held for a bail hearing. Name and further details available at www.drps.ca.
