Lakeshore East rail service suspended till Sunday night

Metrolinx announced this morning that starting today at 10pm until end of service on Sunday, September 24, Lakeshore East rail service will be temporarily suspended for important maintenance work.

“Most Lakeshore East GO train service will be replaced with shuttle bus service. Customers are encouraged to check the departure boards as some trips will be running express from specific stations,” said the announcement.

It said TTC service is available for customers travelling to and from Rouge Hill, Guildwood, Eglinton, Scarborough or Danforth GO stations.

These temporary service changes are critical for track maintenance near Durham College Oshawa GO, key infrastructure updates for East Harbour Transit Hub, Eglinton GO and further progress on adding a new track along the Lakeshore East Line, said Metrolinx.

It said regular service will resume on Monday, September 25.

Buses do not have the same capacity as trains and shuttle buses may experience longer than normal travel times. Depending on destination, customers may wish to use other GO Transit options, including GO Bus Routes 92 or 96 to connect with local transit. Additional information on service adjustments is available here.
