Lane restrictions in Oshawa, Whitby and Newcastle

The Regional Municipality of Durham yesterday announced lane restrictions on Stellar Drive (Regional Road 25), Champlain Avenue (Regional Road 25A) and Thornton Road South (Regional Road 52) in the Town of Whitby and the City of Oshawa.

A road closure has also been announced in Newcastle.

When: The project will be separated into three stages: Stellar Drive boulevard and restoration work is ongoing; Champlain Avenue road reconstruction is anticipated to start the week of May 4; Thornton Road South reconstruction is expected to begin in August. Work is expected to be completed by late October.

Where: The first stage of the project will take place on Stellar Drive (Regional Road 26), from Thickson Road to Thornton Road South. The second stage will take place on Champlain Avenue from Stellar Drive to Thornton Road South. The third stage will take place on Thornton Road South from Champlain Avenue to 680 metres north of Champlain Avenue. Lane restrictions will be required through each phase of construction.

Why: Road reconstruction and urbanization.

Rudell Road to be closed until end of May

Rudell Road will close from Hart Boulevard to Edward Street from May 11 to 20, and from Edward Street to Highway 2 from May 21 to 29, 2020, for work on underground services. Road closure dates are subject to change as the work is weather dependent.

Stage one closure: May 11 to 20, 2020
Stage two closure: May 21 to 29, 2020
