Sometimes nature smiles and comes to the aid of those on the right side of the law.
Durham police yesterday said a female is facing several charges after fleeing from a patrol vehicle in Oshawa.
On Friday, November 21 at around 12:40 am, a member of the DRPS RIDE team was on protective patrol when he initiated a traffic stop in the area of King Street West and Thornton Road South. The suspect vehicle failed to stop when the officer activated their emergency equipment. The officer initiated a brief pursuit but discontinued when the vehicle began travelling at a high rate of speed, said a police statement.
A short time later, officers located the suspect vehicle abandoned off the roadway near Park Road and Hillside Avenue after it collided with a large boulder. Police searched the area and located the suspect driver fleeing on foot. The suspect was taken into custody and transported to a local-area hospital with minor injuries from the collision. The suspect was also wanted on several other charges.
The woman, age 39 from Toronto was charged and released on an undertaking. Name and further details available at www.drps.ca.
