Man ejected from van, woman extricated from car after crash

Three adults are recovering in hospital following a serious collision in Pickering, according to Durham Regional Police Service (DRPS).

On Thursday, March 7 at about 9:30 am, members from West Division responded to a report of a two-vehicle collision at the intersection of Concession Road 9 and Brock Road, in Pickering.

A red Chevrolet cube van was northbound on Brock Road when it entered the intersection of Concession Road 9, at the same time a BMW 35D was westbound on Concession Road 9. Both vehicles collided within the intersection. The passenger from the cube van was partially ejected from the vehicle, said a police statement.

Fire attended the collision scene and extracted a 35-year-old female from the BMW, who was transported to a local area hospital with serious injuries, it said.

The two parties from the Chevrolet were attended to by ambulance, one party was airlifted via Air Ornge to a Toronto-area trauma centre, while the other party was transported via a land ambulance also to a Toronto-area trauma centre, police added.

The two males from the Chevrolet are in critical condition.

Members of the DRPS – Collision Investigation Unit attended the scene to conduct an investigation. The area of the roadway was closed for several hours while evidence was collected.
