Metrolinx adds trips to help Durham residents get to CNE

Metrolinx yesterday announced it will be adding daytime trips to Union and Exhibition Stations during the CNE and extra night-time homebound trips on the Lakeshore East and West lines to help event attendees get home safely.

The eagerly anticipated Canadian National Exhibition (CNE) is just around the corner returning from August 21 – September 7. If you’re looking to head to downtown Toronto here are the details of the changes to the GO line to help you get there easier.

Lakeshore East Line

On weekdays:

  • 15:31, 15:58 and 16:28 trains departing Whitby GO making all stops to Union Station, arriving at 16:33, 17:00 and 17:30.
  • 22:35, Friday only, train departing Union Station making all stops to Whitby GO, arriving at 23:35.
  • 23:35, Monday to Thursday only, train departing Union Station making all stops to Whitby GO, arriving at 00:35.

On weekends:

  • 23:35 train departing Union Station making all stops to Whitby GO, arriving at 00:38.

Some train arrival times to Union Station will be adjusted to arrive earlier or later than regularly scheduled.

If you have Presto, you can save up to 22 per cent off regular priced admission to the CNE and up to 39 per cent off regular priced Ride All Day tickets when you buy on or before August 20, said Metrolinx.

In addition, veterans and a companion can ride GO and UP Express free to and from the CNE for the Warriors’ Day Parade on Saturday, August 22.

Riders can transfer for free with One Fare between GO Transit and local transit agencies. Kids 12 and under always ride the GO for free.
