Nighttime pursuit by car and on foot of car thieves

Durham Regional Police Service (DRPS) yesterday successfully chased suspected car thieves, who first tried to flee in their stolen vehicle, and then by foot.

Officers from the DRPS Central East Division, in the early hours of Monday January 9, located a stolen vehicle being driven with one passenger.

The vehicle was spotted around 2 am in the area of Wilson Road South and Shakespeare Avenue in Oshawa.

Officers attempted to stop the vehicle, but the suspects fled and a short pursuit occurred, police said.

It said the suspects fled on foot and were promptly arrested. No injuries were reported.

A 39-year old man from Oshawa and a 33-year old woman from Whitby have been charged.
