Durham District School Board (DDSB) yesterday said some services are being restored following Friday’s cyber incident.
However, a DDSB update did not mention if any private data files were stolen or not.
“Our first priority is on restoring systems that support critical school and business operations, and to support student learning. At the same time, work is underway to investigate what happened, the extent of the impact, and if there are privacy concerns. This work is complex and will take a significant amount of time to complete. We are committed to sharing more when we have confirmed information,” said yesterday’s update.
“Our IT Services team continues to prioritize restoring critical systems to support school and business operations. This work has been ongoing since Saturday and will continue until we are able to restore all services,” it added.
It said phones are starting to come back online but may not be working at every location so parents and guardians may experience some difficulties in phoning schools.
“We are making progress on restoring some systems. For DDSB@Home, please check for an update at 11 am on Wednesday if classes will be taking place in the afternoon,” said the update.
“We sincerely regret the inconvenience caused by this cyber incident and would ask for your continued patience and understanding as we work as quickly as possible to restore our network while ensuring integrity and security. We are appreciative of staff, students, and families in how everyone is adapting until we have all systems back in place. We will provide further updates on an ongoing basis,” said the DDSB.
